Introduction to Traditional Knifemaking

Discover the traditional techniques of forging by creating your hardened steel knife with a handle on silk. Participants will have the choice of several blade models. Once the knife is finished, they will have the opportunity to order a custom case, made by a leather craftsman collaborator Forges de Montreal.

  • Become familiar with a blacksmith shop and learn about the rules of work and safety;
  • Learn how to maintain a forge fire, handle tools, and acquire good reflexes of movement;
  • Experiment with traditional cutlery techniques (stretching, crushing, sharpening, peeling, tempering, relaxing income, etc.)

By the end of this training, you will have acquired the practical and technical knowledge necessary to be able to forge safely and independently.
