The Forging Tongs Workshop is at an intermediary level. These tools are the essential instruments of the work of the blacksmith and are specific for each project. Forging tongs is a fundamental step in learning traditional blacksmithing practices.
- Become familiar with calculating the necessary mass to forge iron and steel pieces;
- Carry out a mechanical assembly using riveting;
- Develop dexterity in the handling of blacksmithing tools;
- Master the basic techniques of traditional forging (fullering, upsetting, stretching, slitting, drifting and hot punching, forge welding, etc.)
By the end of this training, you will be ready to create your own tongs and, by doing so, extend the possibilities of your forged iron creations.

You will be provided with all the tools and safety equipment required to attend the class. Please wear steel-toe footwear and cotton clothing. Do not wear synthetic materials as they tend to melt to the skin when blacksmithing.
Bring your lunch to class as there are not many restaurant options near the shop and we try to keep lunch breaks to one hour or less to ensure time is maximized at the forge. Also bring a water bottle that can refilled at the shop as necessary because you will definitely need to drink lots of water.
